Yesterday, despite the cold and wind, we hiked 5.68 miles at Stone Mountain’s Cherokee Trails which we have done several times; however, this hike was special. Our dear friends Sherri and Julie decided to join us. What makes this hike so special is, it was Sherri’s (in yellow jacket) first hike in over 30 years!
Like me, Sherri has been struggling with her weight for many years and to date has lost over 50 pounds. Now, it’s time to start integrating exercise into her life but not a fan of gyms or hard core workouts programs. Over the past few months, Sherri has been hearing our stories about hiking and decided it was something she would like to try. For a first timer, Sherri did great. She climbed every hill and scaled the mountain like a pro. After the hike, she was thrilled that she made the hike and is excited about our next trip. I’m so proud of her for putting her fears behind her and making the leap.
