The transformation of a short fat girl

Month – February 2011

Still On Track

Oops, I forgot to post my weigh in yesterday. I weighed in at 244.2 pounds. That’s a loss of 1.5 pounds. Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed with this loss, but I know it’s because I didn’t workout this week. The only exercise I got this week was walking my dogs after work. In order to speed things up, I have no choice but to increase the intensity of my workouts. There may be a problem with that, however. When I fell Saturday, I really hurt my knee. I have an appointment with the orthopedist in the morning. I’ let you know how it all works out.

In the meantime, I am keeping my thoughts positive and hoping I just bruised my knee instead of anything more serious. Wish me luck.

Save Face, Wear A Hat

While Kristy, myself and our pups were out walking and enjoying a beautiful morning, I noticed a woman walking towards us with her dog. Because she was across the street, I went into my usual defensive mode and pulled KC closer to me. Unfortunately, I wasn’t paying close enough attention and did not see KC jump in front of me trying to get to the dog. Next thing I know, KC’s leash is wrapped around my ankles and Im falling face first onto the sidewalk. The first thing to hit the side walk were my knees then my head. Luckily, when my head hit the sidewalk, the brim of my hat hit first and slid down over my face. My hat protected my face from being all scrapped up. I will always wear a hat while out with the pups. You never know what’s going to pop out at you.

It’s Never Too Late For A Do Over

A little over a year ago, I stood up and screamed to the world that I was a short fat girl and I was going to change my life. Well, for the most part it did. I rode more miles on my bike than I ever did before, and even completed my first triathlon. Unfortunately, it all went down hill after that. Since then, I’ve gained most of my weight back (currently at 245.7 pounds), and have been inactive as a slug.

Not all of this is 100% my fault though. During last year’s triathlon, I incurred several injuries that hindered my physical activities. Because of my failure to train properly and not loosing enough weight for the triathlon, I  have bursitis in my shoulder, a strained knee, and  stress fracture in my foot. Except for my shoulder, I have recovered from my injuries.

It’s hard to believe that I have gained over 20 pounds since the triathlon. I am so disappointed in myself that I let it get this far. My eating habits as well as my fitness level has virtually have gone down the toilet.

At first, it was ok to blame my weight gain on my injuries, but I have no excuse for letting it guess this bad. Even as my clothes grew tighter and tighter, I was increasing in girth right before my very own eyes and  I still ignored what was happening to me. Here it is, spring is just around the corner and I am back right where I started. Still fat and out of shape.

It’s time for a Do Over. I’ve finally had enough and know if I do not get my butt in gear soon, there will be no turning back. Kristy and I have committed to each other that we are going to see this to the end. We have both decided to participate in the Lake Lanier Island Triathlon this June. This will be a first for Kristy so it will be fun to train for this together.

So, wish me luck everyone. I’ll be checking back soon.
